1528 yatris perform ‘darshan’ at holy cave

JAMMU, July 29: On the 28th day on 48 day long holy Amarnath yatra, 1,528 pilgrims paid obeisance to Ice Lingam at cave shrine situated at an altitude of 13,000 feet above sea level in South Kashmir district of Anantnag today.
With this the total number of pilgrims who performed darshan in holy cave since the yatra started on July 2 has touched 2,11,707.
The yatra proceeded smoothly today from both the tracks including shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam Chandanwari track as the day was pleasant.
According to an official spokesman 420 pilgrims left from Baltal base camp to holy cave today while 451 pilgrims reached Baltal from Jammu early this morning.
He said 627 pilgrims left from Chandanwari transit camp to holy cave early this morning and they included 299 pilgrims who left from Nunwan-Pahalgam Base Camp.
In addition to this 27 pilgrims left via chopper while 26 returned by chopper to Pahalgam after performing darshan at holy cave today.
The spokesman said 113 pilgrims are staying at Nunwan camp for the night while 389 left for Jammu late last night.
The spokesman said one Sevadar of Har Har Mahadev Langer identified as Gurpreet Singh, 24, S/o Sola Singh of Mansar Punjab died near holy cave of cardiac arrest today.
With this total number of people who died during the ongoing yatra has touched 20. They included 18 pilgrims, One CRPF Jawan and a potter.
Meanwhile a fresh batch of 371 pilgrims left for two base camps of Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here early this morning under tight security arrangements.
These pilgrims will leave from the two base camps for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
