RAJOURI, Apr 27: At least 15 sheep and goats of a nomad (Bakerwal) were killed by several dogs in Darhal area of district Rajouri last night.
Police sources said that incident took place at around 10.30 pm last night at Chowkian village in Darhal, where Bakerwal Mohd Liyakat, son of Makhan Din, resident of Jamola had arrived there for night halt while going towards higher reaches of Pir Panjal. It was rainy weather and the sheep and goats were sitting in a herd under a tree.
Then suddenly some local dogs attacked the sheep and goats and killed 15 of them and injured about a dozen others. The nomads then came out from the nearby tents and made the dogs to flee after hard struggle using stones and lathis.
The nomad reported the matter to Darhal police station today. A police team along with Veterinary doctor visited the spot. The police has taken cognizance of the matter. He has pleaded for financial assistance before the District Administration.
