SAMBA, Oct 22: District police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 14 bovines at naka NHW Tapyal in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
A police party of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signalled a truck bearing Registration Number, HP72-2265 to stop which was on its way from Kathua side towards Kashmir Valley. On seeing the naka party, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle, but after being chased by the naka party, the driver abandoned the vehicle at a few meters distance and managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 14 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 119/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
