14 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers nabbed

JAMMU, Jan 2: Jhajjarkotli police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid by arresting two smugglers and rescuing 14 bovine animals from their possession.
“Acting on specific information regarding bovine smuggling, a team of police station Jhajjarkotli headed by Inspector Devinder Singh laid a special naka at Suketar (Jhajjarkotli) and started checking of the vehicles,” police sources said.
They said during checking one truck bearing registration number JK02BM-5525 was stopped and on its checking 14 (08 cows and 06 bulls) bovine animals were found loaded in it in a cruel and merciless manner without food and water.
Sources said that the truck driver namely Mohd Aftab son of Zakir Hussain, resident of Tulli (tehsil Chasana, district Reasi) and his associate namely Zakir Hussain son of Jalil Khatana of Qazikund Srinagar were arrested on the spot and a case FIR number 01/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered against them in police station Jhajjarkotli.
The whole operation was made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma.
