UDHAMPUR, Oct 29: District Police Udhampur today arrested an inter-state drug peddler and seized more than 14 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled by the accused from Kashmir.
Reports said that acting on a specific information, a police party, led by SDPO Chenani, R Shan and SHO Kud Ragubir Singh, laid a special naka near Kud and intercepted a Tavera car bearing registration number JK03B-9016. The vehicle, which was on way from Kashmir to Jammu, was subjected to through search during which
14.3 kg poppy straw was recovered. The accused smuggler, namely Thodu Ram of Tandha Hoshiarpur Punjab, who was driving the Tavera, was also arrested on the spot while Police also seized the vehicle.
In this connection, a case FIR under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Kud against the accused person.
