13 injured as Tata Magic skids into nallah

POONCH, May 13: At least thirteen persons were injured, two of them seriously when a Tata Magic vehicle fell into Betar nallah in Degwar area, about 4 kms from here today.
Reports said the mishap took place when the ill-fated mini-passenger vehicle, was on way to Poonch city from Malti village near Bagial Dhara at around 10.30 am. The vehicle bearing registration No. JK-12/ 5952 went out of control after some mechanical failure and rolled down into Betar nallah.
Immediately after the mishap, the locals of the area rushed to the spot. Police party led by SHO Poonch, Sanjeev Slathia also reached there. The rescue work started and the injured were shifted to District Hospital Poonch in civil and police vehicles. The people said that vehicle was not over speeding but it suddenly landed into nearly 30-40 feet deep slope towards Betar nallah.
The injured were identified as Mohd Riaz, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Dallan, Mir Mohammed, son of Noora hailing from Degwar, Muneer Hussain, son of Hassna, resident of Bagial Dhara, Mohd Bashir, son of Mir Mohammed of Degwar, Nazira Bi, wife of Mohd Bashir of Degwar, Rashida Bi, wife of Mir Mohammed from Balial Dhara and Mir Hussain, resident of Bagial Dhara. Some of the injured were discharged after providing first aid in hospital.
The police registered a case and started investigation. It said in this eight-seater vehicle, thirteen passengers were travelling.
