LMD books school uniform seller, cinema theater

JAMMU, May 13: Acting on the complaint of consumers regarding overcharging by cinema theaters, a team of officers of Legal Metrology led by Joint Controller Amar Singh and Deputy Controller (Consumer Protection) Manoj Prabhakar conducted checking of Apsra cineplex at Gandhi Nagar and booked a case of overcharging on selling of cold drink & pre-packed chips.
The directions were also issued on the spot to management to sell the eatables on the marked MRP fixed by the manufacturer.
In another complaint from parents relating to prices of uniform of school going children, the team conducted extensive checking of M/s Vidharthi Uniform Store, Gandhi Nagar.
On inspection lot of imported accessories for school kids were found to be without the mandatory declarations of MRP, Address of the importer, PKD & consumer helpline number etc.
The management was asked to produce all the bills so that actual MRP can be calculated as the stickers were used to display MRP which is the not allowed under the Act.
All the deceptive packages of uniform were seized & a case was registered for violation of rules. The sale of all such uniform & other accessories was stopped till rectification of the same by the manufacturer.
The team also conducted inspection of dhaba, restaurants and other establishments at Narwal and seized 5 domestic LPG cylinders from 3 commercial establishments.
