RAJOURI, Oct 8: Thirteen illegally operating private schools in district Rajouri have been issued closure notices by the District Education authorities while many Government schools in Darhal tehsil are being run ‘without’ students and the teachers are being paid without any work.
The action in this regard was initiated on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Saugat Biswas who constituted a team in consultation with CEO Rajouri for inquiry and on the spot inspection of the schools. The DC received written complaints that many Government Primary, Upper Primary/ Middle schools in Darhal/ Budhal area remain closed and the teachers hardly attend to their duty.
The Sarpanchs further pointed out that in nearly 20-25 schools, the strength of children was from zero to six (6) and 2 to five teachers were in place in these schools and they were being paid by Government without any work. They said the children were reading in private schools being run illegally and the same roll has been shown in Government school registers. On the basis of this, Mid Day meals items are being withdrawn and the booty is being distributed among the concerned beneficiaries.
Taking cognizance of the matter, earlier a secret inquiry was conducted and then a committee under the chairmanship of Zonal Education Officer Darhal Vidhi Chand was constituted. During on the spot inspection/ verification, the team found several schools closed during school hours and in some schools hardly 2-3 children were found present against the role of 20 to 30. The parallel roll was found in the local private academies.
Director School Education, Jammu Mr Qureshi taking serious note has asked CEO to act swiftly and take action against the teachers and illegal private schools. He also asked to expand the area of inquiry and submit detailed report shortly.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that private schools in Darhal Zone against whom closure notices have been issued are: Dar-ul-Aloom Public School being run by Tahir Hussain near at Darhal, Green Valley School at Thana Mang, Azar Public school at Barhi Darhal, Tiger Public School at Patta Thana, Raja Institute of Education at Chowkian, Ashiyana Public School Chowkian, National Public School Kothra, Modern Public School Kothra, Accra Public School Hill Tak and Abdullah Public School Budh Kanari. These schools are being run without permission from the concerned Education authorities. They have been asked to close down within one week of face action.
