RAJOURI, May 14: A girl student who failed in Class 12th examination committed suicide by jumping into a river in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri district last evening.
The body of the deceased could be recovered early today by police and villagers who had launched extensive search operation for her. Identified as Pooja Devi (18), daughter of Sham Lal, resident of Gai Panasa village near the Line of Control in Sunderbani, the girl failed in 12th class exam. She was upset over it and jumped into river Manawar Tawi near her village last evening.
The family members and villagers came to know about it and informed police. The police party from Sunderbani also reached the spot and started search. It was resumed again during early morning and the body was traced. After postmortem at SDH Sunderbani, it was handed over to the family for last rites.
