12 injured in grenade attack

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: Militants this evening lobbed a grenade on security forces in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district injuring 12 civilians.
Militants lobbed grenade on joint team of Police and CRPF in Kakapora area of Pulwama. However, it missed the intended target and exploded on road.
In this incident, 12 civilians received splinter injuries and were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. All of them are said to be stable.

The injured have been identified as Raja Begum of Naman Kakapora, Shabir Ahmad Dar of Kakapora, Mushtaq Ahmad of Kakapora, Adil Ahmad of Samboora, Amir of Uttar Pradesh, Bashir Ahmad Dar of Kakapora, Ghulam Mohidin of Laribal Kakapora, Habibullah Shiekh of Kakapora, Ghulam Nabi Shiekh of Kakapora, Suhail Ahmad of Naman Kakapora, Abrar Dar of Kakapora and Bashir Ahmad of Kakapora.
Soon after the attack, whole area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, police said in a statement said that today at 05:45 pm, Pulwama police received information from Main Town Kakapora area of Pulwama where militants had hurled a grenade on a CRPF bunker.
Senior police officers reached the spot, the statement said, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that militants had hurled a grenade upon a bunker of 41 Bn CRPF at Main Town Kakapora area of Pulwama. “However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road,” it said.
“In this incident, 12 civilians received injuries. All the injured have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” police said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard under relevant Sections of law.
“Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident. The area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on,” police said.
