RAJOURI, Oct 13: At least 12 goats and sheep of a nomad were killed while half a dozen others injured when an over speeding Tempo Traveler ran over them while moving along the road near Narian on Nowshera-Rajouri road this morning.
Official sources said that mishap took place at around 10.20 am when Mithia Bakerwal, son of Mian, was moving on- foot along with his cattle, sheep-goats and other family members towards Nowshera. He was returning from higher reaches of Pir Panjal. A speeding Tempo Traveler No. JK-11/ 2115 crushed 12 goats/ sheep to death on the sport while about half a dozen were rendered injured.
The incident took place near village Dalyan (Chingus) and the nomads family surrounded the vehicle and did not allow to move ahead. The driver however, managed to flee. The family members then sat on dharna on the highway and stalled the movement of traffic for about one and half hour.
Later, SHO concerned and Tehsildar arrived there and they assured action in this regard and also assured for recommendation of compensation to DC. The nomads then lifted dharna and cleared road. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
