12 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: Udhampur Police foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 12 bovines.
A team from Police Station Chenani intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK14K-1765) during routine checking. Upon inspection, four bovines were found cruelly tied and being transported illegally without valid permission.
Police arrested the vehicle driver, identified as Khursheed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Maitra, Ramban and shifted the rescued bovines to a safer place. Case FIR Number 22/2025 under the relevant section has been registered in this connection at Police Station Chenani.
Another attempt was foiled at Roundomail when a team from Police Station Udhampur noticed a vehicle (Tata Yodha – JK19A-5934) coming from Manwal towards Udhampur. Upon seeing the checking point, driver abandoned the vehicle on road and fled.
During checking, eight bovines were found cruelly tied in the vehicle for transportation without valid permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place.
Case FIR No. 61/2025 under Section 223(a) BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
