JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Feb 10: As many as 11912 cases were settled and over Rs 70 crore were recovered from defaulters during Lok Adalats held across Jammu and Kashmir at district and tehsil levels and in both the wings of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
An amount of Rs 8.50 crore was awarded as compensation in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 62 crore was settled in Bank recovery suits in the Lok National Adalats.
J&K High Court Legal Service Committee under the patronage of Chief Justice High Court of J&K Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, who is also Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge High Court of J&K, Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee organized National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu/Srinagar today.
The Lok Adalat at the High Court Complex Jammu was supervised and monitored by Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey. In both wings of the High Court, a total of 43 cases were settled and Rs 2,31,79,381 was awarded as compensation.
JAMMU: A National Lok Adalat was held today in the District Court Complex, Janipur under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterje Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Jammu.
A total number of ten Benches were constituted at District Court Complex, Jammu. The first bench was presided over by V.C. Koul, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu and assisted by Haq Nawaz Zargar, 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, TADA/POTA Jammu.
The second Bench was presided over by M.L Manhas, Special Judge Anti-corruption, CBI Cases Jammu and assisted by Sonia Gupta, Special Judge Anti Corruption, Jammu and Anita Tickoo Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Jammu.
The third Bench was headed by Bala Jyoti, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu and assisted by Surinder Singh, City Judge Jammu. The fourth Bench was headed by Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Additional District Judge, MACT Jammu and assisted by Sumit Bhat (Retainer Lawyer) DLSA Jammu. The fifth Bench was headed by Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Zeeshan Ahmad Choudhary Retainer Lawyer TLSC Jammu.
The sixth bench was headed by Kusum Lata Pandita, Sub Judge Jammu and assisted by Wangial Tsering, Forest Magistrate Jammu. The seventh Bench was headed by Sudhir Khajuria, Special Electricity Mobile Magistrate. Jammu and assisted by Manjeet Rai, Special Mobile Magistrate P and T, Jammu. The eighth Bench was headed by Som Lal Sub Judge Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Arti Devi, Munsiff Jammu.
The ninth Bench comprised of Yahya Firdous Ahangar Special Railway Magistrate, and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate, Traffic Jammu. The tenth Bench comprised of Manoj Parihar Spl. Mobile Magistrate Jammu, Swati Gupta, Sub Registrar Jammu and A.S. Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
Cases of civil nature, criminal compoundable, petty offences, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, consumer cases, matrimonial cases, cases under 138 NIA, revenue, electricity, water, passenger tax and railway cases were taken up and settled in the Lok Adalat. A total number of 5352 cases were taken up, out of which 4102 cases have been decided.
A total amount of Rs. 55.45 crore was settled in the Lok Adalat.Lok Adalat benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah and R.S. Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
AKHNOOR: A National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of Munsiff Court Complex Akhnoor under the chairmanship of Pooja Raina, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Akhnoor. A Bench was constituted, which comprised of Pooja Raina, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Akhnoor and Advocate Ram Lal. A total of 79 criminal and miscellaneous cases were taken up out of which 43 cases were disposed off. A fine of Rs 13,050 has been realized on the spot.
SAMBA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Samba. On the occasion, three Benches were constituted. The first Bench was headed by RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Samba, while the second bench was headed by Deepak Sethi, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (CJM/Sub Judge) Samba and assisted by Lakshmi Devi, Retainer Lawyer and Advocate Vishal Sharma. The third bench comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and Jyoti Bjagat, Additional Munsiff Samba. A total of 179 cases were taken up, out of which 96 cases were disposed off. In MACT cases, an amount of Rs 12,50,000 was awarded as compensation and in bank cases 17 were settled and an amount of Rs 50,990,308 was settled. 7 labour dispute cases were settled and an amount of Rs 16,525 was settled.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of SR Gandhi, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Principal District Legal Services Authority organized a Lok Adalat. On the occasion, three Benches were constituted. The first Bench was presided over by SR Gandhi, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Principal District Legal Services Authority and was assisted by Parveen Pandoh, JMIC/Munsiff Katra, while the second Bench was presided over by VS Manhas, Sub Judge CJM Reasi and was assisted by NS Jamwal, Incharge JMIC/Munsiff Reasi and the third Bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra, Sub Judge Katra and assisted by Mohit Raina, Tehsildar Katra. A total of 544 cases of different nature were taken up out of which 267 cases were settled and settlement amount of Rs 11235720 was awarded.
CHENANI: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sumati Sharma in Munsiff Court Complex Chenani in which SDM Chenani, BMO Chenani, EO Municipal Committee Chenani, ZEO Chenani and SHOs of Police Stations Chenani and Kud, Advocates of Chenani Bar Association and other respectable members were also present. 17 criminal cases were taken up and out of which 13 cases were decided amicably after settlement and fine of Rs 24,100 was imposed. Four civil cases were also decided amicably. Besides this 118 traffic challans were disposed off and a total fine of Rs 21,400 was realized on spot from defaulters. Two pre-litigation matters were also disposed off amicably by negotiation between the parties. One matrimonial matter, 24 bank matters were also settled and an amount of Rs 650492 was realized from defaulters.
RAMNAGAR: A National Lok Adalat was held at Sub Judge Court complex under the chairmanship of Anjum Ara, Sub Judge, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Ramnagar. A bench comprised of Anjum Ara, Sub Judge, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Ramnagar and Tehsil Ramnagar Romesh Singh was constituted. 101 cases were disposed off in the National Lok Adalat. A fine of Rs 17950 and loan of Rs 85800 was recovered on the spot.
RAMBAN: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge in collaboration with Anoop Kumar Sharma, Sub Judge CJM Ramban, Arvind Sharma, CJM Batote, Geeta Kumar, Munsiff/JMIC Ramban, Fida Hussain, Munisff/JMIC Banihal, Surinder Thappa, Muniff/JMIC Gool, Javed Rana, Munisff/JMIC Ukhral, Ajay Kumar, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Ramban and assisted by AR Mushtaq Advocate and TH Malik, Advocate, President Bar Association Ramban. A total of 897 cases were taken up, out of which 751 were disposed off.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajouri, in which four Benches were constituted. The first Bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge and assisted by Bilal Ahmed Mir, Advocate, the second Bench was headed by Riyaz Ahmed Mirza, CJM Rajouri and assisted by Naushad Ahmed Khan, District Special Mobile Magistrate Rajouri, the third Bench was headed by Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Rajouri and assisted by KM Bhat, Advocate and the fourth Bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary, Advocate. A toal of 795 cases were taken up, out of which 652 cases were settled.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Zubair Ahmed Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge in District Court Complex here. Two Benches were constituted. The first Bench comprised of Zubair Ahmad Raza, Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch and Wajahat Kazmi, District Mobile Magistrate (T) Poonch, while the second bench comprised of Raja Mohammad Ashraf Khan, CJM Poonch and Adnan Sayeed, Special Mobile Magistrate Poonch. The third bench comprised of Mohammad Muzaffar Khan, Sub Judge and Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate at Surankote and fourth bench comprised of Choudhary Riaz Ahmad Munsiff JMIC at Mendhar. A total of 524 cases were taken up, out of which 282 cases were settled.
GANDOH: National Lok Adalats was held at Sub Munsiff Court Complex Gandoh under the chairmanship of Mudasir Farooq, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee. A total of 21 cases were taken up and 9 cases were disposed off. Traffic challans were also disposed off and a fine of Rs 12,000 was received. Advocate Sanjay Pandita, Kewel Manhas, PO, Mohammad Hussain, Junior Assistant, Dimpal Sharma, sarpanchs, panchs and general public were also present on the occasion.
BANDIPORA: 454 cases were taken up for hearing during the Lok Adalat organized by District Legal Services authority at District Court Complex, Bandipora and Munsif Court Complex Sumbal.
As many as 216 cases were settled and a settlement amount of Rs 33 lakh was awarded.
SOPORE: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex here under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Service Authority Shopian, Ashok Kumar Shavan. During the proceedings, 8 Benches were constituted. A total of 141 cases were taken up out of which 113 cases have been settled 144 pre-litigation cases were also taken up for settlement. An amount of Rs 45,000 was imposed as fine and an amount of Rs 29,15,552 has been recovered in bank cases from defaulters. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District and Session Judge Shopian, Chief Medical Officer Shopian, staff members, officers of District Administration and other prominent citizens attended the Lok Adalat.
ANANTNAG: A National Lok Adalat was held by District Legal Services Authority at District Court Complex here today. During the said Lok Adalat, 325 cases were taken up, out of which 238 cases were settled amicably and Rs 26750 was realized as fine in electricity and traffic challans. Total settlement amount realized in all settled cases in the district was Rs 9,69,960.
PULWAMA: The Adalat was held at District Court Complex under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Pulwama. During Lok Adalat, various criminal compound matters, cases under NI Act, MACT matrimonial, bank matters, civil and cases pertaining to public utilities, labour disputes and pre-litigation were taken up for amicable settlement.
KULGAM: A Lok Adalat was held in which 291 cases were taken up for hearing. Cases of different natures were taken up. Out of the total cases, 235 cases were amicably settled, besides an award of Rs 1,42,11,786 was also passed in favour of victims in MACT cases.
