117 bovine animals rescued, 7 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 21: Udhampur Police today foiled another major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 117 bovines besides arresting seven smugglers near Tikri.
Reports said that during routine naka checking at Tikri, a Police team, led by IC Police Post Tikri, PSI Abdul Satar, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan, noticed few persons taking groups of bovine animals towards Kashmir Valley by foot.
On being questioned, the accused persons failed to produce any permission for taking the bovine animals. Following this, Police arrested seven smugglers and rescued all the 117 bovines .
The arrested smugglers were identified as Hassan Mir, son of Mohd. Mirza of R S Pura, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Mohd Iqbal of Jammu, Manzoor Ahmed son of Raji Mohd of Bishnah, Sadiq Hussain son of Mohd Gali of R S Pura, Farid Hussain son of Qasim Din of R S Pura, Farooq Ali son of Qasim Din of Samba and Abdul Rashid son of Mohd Yousuf of Ramban.
In this regards, Case FIR number 112/2022, 113/2022, 114/2022, 115/2022, 116/2022, 117/2022 and 118/2022 under relevant sections of law have been registered in PS Rehambal.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
