JAMMU, Apr 1: Eleven persons made it to the executive committee of Amar Singh Club as the result of the elections of the Club were announced today by the Returning Officer in the presence of contestants.
Anil Kapahi secured highest 1198 votes in the elections. He was followed by Siddharth Mehta (1189 votes), Raman Gupta (1178 votes), Anil K Gupta (1141 votes), Dr Vikram Handa (1128 votes), Sweesh Anand (1117 votes), Vikarm Puri (1043 votes), Dr Nandita Mehta (1018 votes), Gurpreet Singh Chahal (1006 votes), Ritika Mahajan (993 votes) and Sanjay Sethi (976 votes).
Announcing the result of the elections, Court appointed Returning Officer Vinod Sharma said that the counting of the votes was held today in the hall of Amar Singh Club under close supervision of him and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Mukesh Singh.
Sharma said that counting of votes was stopped midway on the intervening night of March 28 and 29 after he and other three election committee members found serious discrepancies in the counting of ballots.
He said 11 newly elected members along with 4 members to be nominated by the J&K Government will constitute the executive committee of the Amar Singh Club for the next two years. He said these 15 members together will also elect Secretary of the Club.
