The visitors were seen enjoying the panoramic beauty of the hill-station with proper adherence to the COVID-19 SOPs. The visitors, mainly families, said that they had come to the picnic spot for refreshment and to relieve the stress caused by the pandemic.
“If we follow the safety protocols there is no harm in visiting these places as it reduces the stress level and boosts the immunity,” Mubashir Ahmad, a local said.
The kids who had come with their parents were seen enjoying the swings and slides. “My kids are getting fresh air after a long time. Such outings are necessary in the present times when everyone is in distress because of the pandemic,” Farooq Ahmad, a parent said. He, however, stressed that parents should take all the precautionary measures while embarking on such an expedition.
The ponywallas who have been lying idle for the last six months because of the lack of tourists also welcomed local tourists. “The graveyard silence has finally ended here. I am happy to see some locals coming here on weekends. Although they are hesitant to go for a horse ride, it gives us hope,” Ali Mohammad, a ponywalla said.
Some children were depressed with the condition of the swings and the slides and asked for their replacement. “Majority of them are broken. I could not enjoy fully as there was always the danger of getting hurt,” Safoora, a girl said.
She said as schools are shut she has not got chances to play with her friends and such outings would compensate for the loss. “I miss playing with my friends and such outings help to shrug off that feeling. I pray to God that the disease ends soon so that we meet our friends again,” she said.
