SAMBA, Mar 30: Continuing its onslaught against the bovine smugglers, district police Samba on the third successive day today has foiled bovine smuggling attempt and rescued 11 animals.
The incident took place in the wee hours of morning when the cops of Police Post, Mansar performing their vehicle checking at Naka point, Mansar signaled stop a Dumper bearing Registration Number JK21C-3286 to stop, which was going towards Srinagar via Mansar road.
On seeing the Police Party, the driver instead of stopping the vehicle for checking accelerated the speed of the vehicle resulting into injury of one Police Cop. However the alert cops chased the vehicle but the driver jumped from the running vehicle and escaped from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, 11 bovines were found tied mercilessly which were being transported illegally. All the bovines were rescued and the Dumper used for the transportation of the bovines was seized on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 70/2019 U/S 188/307 RPC 2/3 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Samba .
