SRINAGAR, June 17: Government today revealed that 108 militants, 39 security men among 169 killed in Kashmir while 798 persons were arrested in various incidents in Kashmir during 2015-16.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar in Lower House, Minister incharge Home stated that that 798 persons including 377 from Srinagar and 122 from Shopian of various age groups in various incidents in Kashmir and one person from Jammu during the year 2015-16 were arrested.
Of the 799 persons, all have been released except for one, who has been detained, in terms of provision of J&K Public Safety Act, said the Minister. The Minister said 146 militancy related incidents were reported or registered during the current year which killed 22 civilians, 39 security forces and 108 militants were also killed.
“Besides, 3 residential houses, 4 vehicles, BSNL tower, Glass panes of Vodafone and Aircel also got damaged in these incidents. An amount of Rs. 17.35 lakhs has been paid to NOKs of killed/ injured persons by the concerned Deputy Commissioners,” the Minister stated and added that 4 magisterial inquiries have also been ordered in militancy related activities during 2015-16.
