JAMMU, Dec 15: As part of birthday celebrations of Shri Dewarika Nath Shastri Ji Maharaj, the grand 108-Kundiya “Shri Gou Gopal Mahayagya” began today with performing of opening rituals amidst chanting of Vedic hymns at Holy Samadhi Sathal of Shri Shastri Ji in Sohanjana, near here.
The Mahayagya will conclude on December, 26 with “Purnahuti” (final offerings).
Tomorrow on 2nd day, “Kalash Yatra” procession will be taken out from sacred Tawi river to the Yagya venue.
It is pertinent to mention here that to mark the beginning of this mega spiritual event, the flag hoisting ceremony was performed on November 4, at the Yagya venue, located in the vast Tawi islands in adjacent to the holy Samadhi Sathal in Sohanjana. On this day, “Akhand Sankirtan” was also started at the holy Samadhi Sathal, which will also continue till the culmination of the Mahayagya.
Speaking to the media persons after starting of the Yagya, Swami Shri Gangadhar Ji Maharaj, a young saint and son of Shastri Ji, informed that this grand “108 Kundiya Gou Gopal Mahayagya” is being organized with the heavenly blessings of Shri Shastri Ji Maharaj for betterment of mankind and purity of the environment, and for restoration of peace in Jammu & Kashmir.
He recalled the last words of Shri Shastri Ji Maharaj that “those who love us they should not see us in the buildings made of bricks and stones but in the form of poor-down trodden and plants-trees”. The Mahayagya is being solemnized only on the basis of this message, where cows would also be donated to the deserving people on the last day of the Yagya, he said.
This mega religious event will witness participation of renowned saints and religious scholars from across the country, he said, adding, spiritual discourses and recitation of Vedic Hymns along with offering of pure ghee made of cow milk and medicinal herbs during this 11-day long Mahayagya will purify and energize the atmosphere, which will further help in protection of environment as well as creating positive change in the minds of people all around.
Worship and performing of pooja of Lord Shri Krishna along with holy cows daily during the days of Mahayagya will be main attraction of the programme, Swami Ji further added.
The sacred Rath Yatra, which is also an important aspect of birthday celebrations, will be taken out from Holy Samadhi Sathal of Maharaj on December 25, , he said and invited one and all to take part in the programme wholeheartedly and experience the spiritual bliss.
