JAMMU, May 30: Authorities in Katra today seized about 100 kilograms of polythene including 50 packets of plastic disposals and imposed a fine of Rs 21,700 on the defaulters.
Prior to this, authorities had seized 21 tons of polythene and plastic disposal material during the drive against polythene launched in holy town of Katra.
Drive against polythene was led by Sub Divisional Magistrate Katra (SDM) Neelam Khajuria joined by SDPO Katra Ashok Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Sooraj Singh, Inspector, Pollution Control Board Reet Raina and Khilafwarzi Inspectors Rohit and Ashwani Kumar. Assistant Director of Forest Protection Force Ashok Sharma also joined the operation.
