10 yrs RI to 2 Delhi based narco smugglers

JAMMU, May 23: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Mohammad Akram Chowdhary today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 2 lakh each to two Delhi based narco smugglers.
They are Munish Kumar, son of Jagdish Prasad  of Harish Vihar, New Delhi and Sunil Kumar, son of Mohinder Kumar of Tulsi Niketan, New Delhi. They were arrested from Jammu Railway Station on January 8, 2015 along with huge consignment of narcotic drugs.
After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor Ajay Singh Manhas appearing for the State whereas Advocate Prince Khanna appearing for the accused persons, the court observed, “the epidemic of drugs in young generation has assumed alarming dimensions.  It has led to increase in the crime rate”.
“With most drug users being in the productive age, the loss in terms of human potential is incalculable, causing damage to their physical, psychological, moral and intellectual growth”, the court further said, adding “drug Abuse has became a major problem of the society over the years”.
Accordingly, the court convicted the accused and awarded them 10 years imprisonment.
