10 make-shift shops completely gutted in accidental fire

UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: Ten make-shift vegetable shops were completely gutted in accidental fire at village Champari adjoining National Highway in Chenani area.
Even as there was no loss of human life, 10 vegetable shops were completely gutted in accidental fire that broke out in the last night about 1:45am. These make-shift shops were made of tarpaulin and iron sheets.
The gutted shops belonged to Rahul Chand Anthal, Reekhi Chand, Sukhdeev Chand, Gopal Chand, Frave Chand, Jeevan Chand, Bansi Lal, Babu Ram, Alfdin and Balbinder Chand, who suffered huge loss of property.
Locals informed the police station Chennai and Charanjeet Singh SHO Chenani rushed to the spot with a police team and Mohinder Singh Incharge Fire Station Chenani with fire extinguishing team was controlled within one hour but the flames were completely doused in around two hours, sources said.
Locals alleged that non-availability of water near the fire station Chenani caused more damage as the rescue team had to travel long distances to get water for about 30 minutes.
