BEIJING, Mar 5: At least 10 people were killed and 17 injured when a bus caught fire today in northeast China’s Jilin Province, the second such incident in less than a week.
The local fire department was alerted this morning that a shuttle bus of Fukang wood company had caught fire while on the move in Jilin City.
Forty-three people were aboard the bus at the time of the blaze, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
An investigation is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, the death toll from a truck collision and resulting explosion in north China’s Shanxi Province on Saturday has risen to 13, after another body was found at the scene of the incident.
Rescue officials had put the number killed at 12 yesterday.
Last week, a man suspicious of his wife’s infidelity confessed to setting a bus on fire in southwestern China’s Guizhou Province.
Eight persons died and 35 were injured in that incident. (PTI)
