JAMMU, July 21: All J&K 1947 Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum demanded 10 Assembly seats in J&K Legislative Assembly, out of 24 seats kept reserved for PoJK Displaced Persons (DPs), here today.
It was decided in a meeting of the Forum, held under the presidentship of Advocate Amrik Singh and Surjeet Singh, secretary of Forum.
During the meeting, the office bearers urged upon the Union Government especially the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to introduce the bill for the nomination of at least 10 seats for PoJK displaced persons in the J&K Legislative Assembly.
They alleged that since independence, the displaced persons were kept away from their democratic rights which are very much provided in the Indian Constitution.  “About 40000 ‘Sharnarthees’ had laid down their lives for the saviour of Kashmir and mentioned that it is the International Law which speaks that the people who are displaced or disturbed due to war between two countries are deserved for all their basic rights of settlement,” they said.
The Forum also appealed to the Members of Parliament especially from the J&K to raise the issue in both the houses to make an ordinance in the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
The meeting was attended by Inder Singh (Corporator), Avtar Singh Member DGPC Jammu, Sucha Singh (Corporator), Manohar Lal, Suresh Sharma and other office bearers.
