JAMMU, Apr 22: While a bike rider was killed in a road accident near Rehmbal-Garhi, District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Poonch was injured when his car met with an accident in Nowshera area this morning, whereas, three women including two Anganwadi workers received electric shocks at Mali village in Pancheri area of Udhampur today.
Reports said that one Mushtaq Ahmed (19), son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Sunjwan in Jammu was seriously injured after his bike slipped at Falata near Rehmbal on National Highway this evening. He was shifted to Tikri hospital on NH, where doctors provided preliminary treatment and then referred him to GMC Hospital, Jammu. He was declared brought dead here at GMC.
A police spokesman from Rajouri said that DPO Zaffar Bandey, posted in RDD Poonch received serious injuries after his Maruti Swift car bearing registration No. JK02DE/6465 went out of control on main highway and hit against a tree at Talka village near Nowshera at around 7.30 am. He was on way to Poonch from Jammu. The injured was immediately shifted to Nowshera hospital by police and later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. Over speeding was said to be the cause of accident. Police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, reports from Udhampur said that three women received electric shocks, when a live wire fell on the tin shed of the Anganwadi centre at Mali village in Pancheri. The injured women namely Koushlya Devi, wife of Shambu Nath and Bishnu Devi, wife of Moti Ram, both Anganwadi workers and Neelam Devi, wife of Kakau Ram, all hailing from village Mali were hospitalized.
