NEW DELHI : The Home Ministry is carefully monitoring the situation along the LoC/India-Pakistan border as firing by Pakistan Rangers continued unabated last night. “The situation at the border and India’s retaliation to firing from the across the LoC is being monitored closely at the highest level,” official sources said. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was procuring feedback from the ground on an hourly basis.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, his deputy Kiren Rijiju, Home Secretary Anil Goswami and the top brass in the BSF, intelligence bureau and other security agencies concerned were being consulted and kept abreast with the developments. Mr Singh had issued two strongly worded warnings to Pakistan in past two days urging the authorities to end the ceasefire violation immediately.
“If the firing is not stopped, India is determined to retaliate in befitting manner,” Mr Singh had asserted. Meanwhile, the government has put on a hold flag meetings between military brass from the two countries in protest against the continuing ceasefire violations by forces of the neighbouring country.
“There is no question of a flag meet with Pakistan until a cessation of the firing from across the border,” the Home and Defence Ministries had held.
