JAMMU, Oct 11: Stressing the need for effective coordination among various agencies involved in the construction of Udhampur-Banihal-Srinagar- Baramulla Railway project for its timely completion, Minister for CAPD, Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali said that agencies must put in their best efforts to complete this prestigious project as per the targets.
The Minister was chairing a meeting of Engineers of Konkon Railway, other allied agencies and locals of Reasi district to review the progress of project in the State especially in Reasi besides demands and grievances of locals of Reasi in connection with Railway project.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Sushma Chouhan apprised the Minister about the issues of dumping of garbage by the Railway authorities near the construction site and said that it can cause health hazard for the people of the area.
While responding to it, the Minister directed the Railway officers to explore other suitable area for dumping purpose in view of the public outcry. The Minister also directed Chief Engineer PHE to immediately restore all the water supply schemes that have been affected due to railway project in Reasi within stipulated time frame. He also urged the Chief Engineer, Konkon Railway to give priority to engage local youth in the project.
It was informed in the meeting that a team has already been constituted by Deputy Commissioner Reasi to resolve the issues of local people of the town with the Konkon Railway.
Besides Deputy Comm-issioner Reasi, Director CAPD G. S. Chib, ACD Reasi Suram Chand Sharma, Chief Engineer Konkan Railway G. B. Nagendra, Sr. Engineer Konkan Railway S. D. Patil, Senior General Managar Max Infra T. R. Dhiman, other senior officers of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.
