Zulfkar reviews performance of Education Deptt in Leh

Leh, June 13: Minister for School Education, Tribal Affairs, Haj & Auqaf, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali chaired a review meeting of Education Department and tribal related issues here.
Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjey, CEC, LAHDC Dorjey Mutup, EC (Health) Gyal P Wangyal, EC (Education) Tsering Sandup, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, Joint Director Education Ladakh Tashi Dolma, ACD RDD Tsering Paldan, CEO, ZEOs, Principals and Headmasters were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister spoke about the efforts and initiatives taken by State Government in mitigating the issues related to upliftment of tribal communities. He said that his Ministry is working on providing equal benefits and development of all 12 tribes in J&K with justified funds allocation. He stressed on integrated convergence mode of Tribal and Education departments to work more effectively and efficiently in delivering better services.
Zulfkar claimed that the best way to contribute to nation is to strengthen the education system. He emphasised on imparting quality education and the need to focus the priority on foundation classes with children from 3 years to 7 years of age. He instructed Education Department to strengthen kindergarten in Government schools to ensure a strong base for the students to make them competent at young age. He also instructed to make drinking water and toilet facilities available in all schools on top priority.
He assured all kind of support in terms of providing resources, trainings, exposure tours and other facilities in bring government schools at par with private schools. He committed to give funds to build a residential hostel in Leh and a tribal hostel in Jammu. He also committed to send 18 teachers from Leh district for kindergarten training to Delhi.
Tashi Dolma gave a power point presentation highlighting the present scenario of Government education system in Leh district with detail date of enrolment, school infrastructure, teaching staff strength, vacant posts, achievements and other problems like regularisation of ZEOs and Principals and salary issue with ReTs.
Later, the Minister visited SECMOL Campus in Phey and interacted with Sonam Wangchuk, Founder SECMOL and students. He also visited DIET, Leh and praised the faculty for their initiative in running the model school with great efficiency. He assured to consider their demand of filling the posts of HoDs in DIET, Leh and to open a separate SIE centre for Leh and Kargil.
