Zulfkar announces development of 2 Smart Tribal Villages in Rajouri

JAMMU, Sept 20: Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali today chaired a meeting to discuss general and developmental issues of district Rajouri.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Rajouri, Veer Ji Hangloo, Chief Planning Officer, Rajouri, Ch. Abdul Hamid, Asstt Commissioner (Dev) Noor Alam, Chief Agriculture Officer, Executive Engineer PWD and Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD and REW.
The Minister announced that two villages namely Targain and Hubbi of Block Kotranka will be developed as Smart Tribal Villages.
“Under the projects to be taken during the current financial year, the identified villages will be provided all basic facilities of safe drinking water, power supply, education, dependable road connectivity and healthcare, modern sanitation system, better facilities for agriculture and allied activities,” he informed.
He said the works so undertaken will be completed before March 31, 2016, adding that development of facilities would be taken on convergence mode with the involvement of all developmental departments.
The Minister announced release of Rs one crore for each village from Tribal Affairs Department to start the work while Rs 5 crore is available for each such model village under other departments.
The Minister directed the Assistant Commissioner (Dev) to prepare the DPR after conducting a survey of the identified villages so that the work is taken up at the earliest.
The Minister said that the below poverty line residents of these villages will be provided IAY assistance for the construction of houses, adding that sanitation facilities would be provided under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme.
The Minister directed the PHE officers to install PSP water points and hand pumps at the main public places, schools, hospitals and religious places. Zulfkar further directed the Power Development Department to identity the un-electrified helmets and mohras and take up their electrification during the current financial year.
The Minister also announced that the Government Sale Depot of CAPD Department will also be set up in the village.
The Minister directed the Executive Engineer PWD to immediately start the blacktopping of Samote-Targani, Kandi-Hubbi, Hubbi-Gala Bridge, Kot road, Dodaj- Choudharinaar road. He also called for early completion of Gaghrote-peeri, Rajouri-Darhal, Darhal-Kandi roads. He also directed for preparing more road projects to cover unconnected villages of Rajouri district under NABARD.
The Minister also reviewed the overall development scenario of the district and directed the officers to work with dedication and zeal to meet the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s commitment of providing good governance to the people.
