JAMMU, Mar 4: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Tribal Affairs (TA) Ch. Zulifkar Ali chaired a review meeting regarding implementation of various welfare schemes pertaining to tribals here today.
The Minister had a detailed discussion on achievements registered under various schemes besides deliberating on multi-prolonged strategies to further streamline the service of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that socio-economic development of weaker sections of the State is priority of the Government, adding that various innovative schemes have been launched to cater the needs of under privileged communities.
It was informed in the meeting that new hostel buildings for Gujjar and Bakerwal students, who are presently putting up in rented accommodations, will be constructed at various places. Besides, co-education school shall also be opened for Gujjar and Bakerwal students at certain localities.
The Minister directed for early completion of Eklavya Model Schools being constructed at Kulgam and Anatnag.
Zulfkar exhort upon the officers to ensure every effort is made for upliftment of down trodden people besides utilizing funds judiciously for for welfare of deserving sections of the State.
He directed the concerned officers to be proactive towards peoples need and grievances besides ensuring transparent services. He further asked the concerned officers to conduct frequent field visits which is pre -requisite for effective implementation of welfare and development schemes.
Earlier, Secretary, Social Welfare gave a detailed presentation of various Central as well as State sponsored welfare schemes in the state.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Social Welfare, Director, Tribal Affairs, Managing Director, ST/SC Corporation, Secretary Gujjar and Bakerwal Board, Joint Director Planning besides other officers of concerned departments.
