Zorawar appeals women, spiritual leaders to unite against drug abuse

JAMMU, Sept 19: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, has called upon women and spiritual preachers to unite in a mass movement against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Jammu Province.
He emphasized that the drug mafia is actively targeting the youth, including school and college students, jeopardizing the nation’s future.
During a religious function, “Shrimad Bhagwat Katha,” held at Baba Sidhgoria Temple in Paloura and organized by Mahant Kuldeep Singh, Zorawar Singh Jamwal rallied a significant gathering of women and spiritual leaders.
He pledged that Team Jammu’s volunteers would spare no effort to combat drug abuse across every corner of the Jammu region.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal stressed the importance of involving schoolchildren and college youth in spreading awareness about the dangers of drug abuse at the grassroots level.
He urged mothers to take the lead in educating their children about the severe consequences of drug addiction.
He further encouraged women, as wives, sisters, and mothers, to initiate proactive campaigns filled with love and compassion to prevent self-destruction among those ensnared by drug addiction.
He noted that it is crucial for women to promote Sanatan practices from a young age, instilling values that guide them towards a brighter future.
SP City North, Kulbir Handa, addressed the issue of drug abuse affecting both young boys and girls. He emphasized the pivotal role of parents, particularly mothers, in shaping the younger generation’s future. He urged city residents to be vigilant in their neighborhoods, report suspicious activities by drug peddlers to the local police for swift action.
Inspector Sikander Singh Chauhan, SHO Janipur Police Station, informed the gathering about the police department’s efforts to combat the drug menace. He highlighted the number of cases registered, the arrests made, and the narcotics seized by the police in their ongoing fight against drug-related crimes.
