Zinc futures extend losses on weak spot cues

NEW DELHI, Aug 3: Continuing its slide for the third straight day, zinc prices shed another 0.25 per cent to Rs 177.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions, taking negative cues from spot market on easing demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in  August edged lower by 45 paise, or 0.25 per cent to Rs 177.50 per kg in business turnover of 835 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in September was weakened by 15 paise, or 0.08 per cent to Rs 177.50 per kg in 18 lots.
Analysts said cutting down of positions by traders, driven by a fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical market kept zinc prices lower in futures trade. (PTI)
