Zinc futures dip 0.50% on global cues

NEW DELHI, Sept 15:  Zinc prices eased 0.50 per cent to Rs 138.45 per kg in futures trade today after speculators off-loaded their positions partially as the base metals pack weakened at the London Metal Exchange (LME) amidst subdued domestic demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September declined by 70 paise, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 138.45 per kg in a business turnover of 183 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in October shed 60 paise, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 139.30 per kg in 11 lots.
Meanwhile, at the London Metal Exchange (LME), zinc retreated as much as 0.3 per cent to USD 2,269 per metric tonne.
Analysts said the decline in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to weakness in copper and other base metals at the LME after data signalling industrial-output growth in China was the weakest in August since the global financial crisis while investment and retail sales moderated. (PTI)
