UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: ZEPO Chenani was killed when his car rolled down into a deep gorge at Aarsia, near Samroli National Highway, here this morning.
The deceased, namely Mohd Rafiq (58), son of Barkat Ali of Chenani, was driving his Wagon-R car JK14C-7316, which slipped into deep gorge after hitting a pedestrian, who was also injured.
The accident took place when the deceased was on way from Chenani to Udhampur for attending a meeting at GHSS Udhampur.
Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where the ZEPO succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The injured pedestrian was identified as Dalbir Singh (39), son of Bhart Singh resident of village Nashri in Ramban District.
Later, the dead body of ZEPO was sent for postmortem and after completion of all the legal formalities, handed over to the family members for the last rites.
