Zangtrai festivity celebrated with fervor

JAMMU, Apr 8: In connection to celebration of Zangtrai a ladies festival falling on third Navratra, various functions were organized by Kashmiri Pandits in different areas of Jammu today.
Gala function was organized at K. P Sabha premises on Zangtrai, i. e the Maa Chanderghanta day. This day was observed in Kashmir since ancient times as a mark of respect for women hood, who are embodiment of Jagat Janni Jagat Amba. This day is now celebrated also as women-empowerment day by community.
The function was presided over by K. K. Khosa, president of Sabha & Bimla Raina, noted mystic writer was the chief guest. The function started with the hymns of Ganesh Stuti. The noted and acclaimed Kashmiri Vocalist Dr. Deepali Wattal and her team enthralled the audience by presenting melodious Bhajan Mala & devotional songs.
While welcoming and comparing the programme Dr. Sujata Sathoo spoke about the importance of today’s event and exhorted fellow sisters to rise against the evils in society especially orthodoxy and superfluous rituals binding women. Women should rise above self & change society for good. President of Sabha K. K. Khosa gave the welcome address.
Zangtrai was also celebrated by All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC ) led by Advocate Ravinder Raina at ASKPC Bhawan Durga Nagar. The function was graced by senior community leaders including H N Jattu, Arjan Nath Bhat and Shyam Lal Raina senior most member of ASKPC. ASKPC also organized Navreh function in a traditional way. Its general secretary, Dr T K Bhat read the welcome address. The speakers threw light on the significance of Navreh with special reference to Zangtrai.
Zangtrai a festival of great significance was also observed at Bhagawaan Gopinathji Ashram Udaywala Bohri today.
Mrs Pyare Malla was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme started with offering of pooja in the lotus feet of Bhagawaanji by the devotees. On the occasion speakers spoke on the significance of festival. On the occasion Ravi Bhan, Shanti Lal Sidh, R K Saproo, Arti Razdan, Nirja Raina, Himanshu Pandita, Anjali Pandita, Shurba Pandita presented melodious devotional songs. The renowned doctors of the community were presented a shawl for their selfless services provided in Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust Medical Mission.
In connection with celebration of Zangtrai another function as organized by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritk Shodh Sansthan, Gole Gujral in which besides highlighting the significance of the day the third Editon of Bhajan Malla comprising of ‘150 Kashmiri bhajans was released. The Bhajan Malla is dedicated to memory of Krishana Jyotshi, wife of A K Jyotshi the founder member of the Sanstha.
Zangtrai was also celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at Shri Shri Jagat Amba Sharika Chakreshwar, Sanstha Hari Parbhat Doke Paloura today. A large number of devotees mostly female thronged the shrine where all arrangements of Prashd distribution and other rituals signifying the importance of the festival were performed. The audience was enthralled by Bhajans performed by renowned Bhajan Singer Kaka Ji Chatabali.
In connection with celebration of Zangtrai festival a function was held at Sharika Peeth Sanstha, Subash Nagar here under the chairmanship of M K Jalai president of the Sanstha.
A large number of devotees mostly women attended the function. A Bhajan Kirtan was performed and devotees were served with prashad besides other rituals related to the festival were also performed.
