JAMMU, Nov 30: American Oncology Institute (AOI) in association with World Cancer Care (WCC) organized a free cancer and general health check-up camp at Jambu Lochan Hall Amphalla here, today.
On the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi, J&K BJP vice president was the chief guest while W.No. 9 corporator Sunit Raina was guest of honour who inaugurated the medical camp for the welfare of general public. While, Aditya Sabharwal, Regional Marketing Head AOI, Ashutosh Gupta Manger Marketing AOI, Dr Deepak Abrol Consultant, Radiation Oncologist, Vigat Chandan, Anil Raina and team of nursing staff from WCC were also present.
In the camp, diagnosis service and tests like mammogram, bone densitometry, PAP Smear, PSA, Oral Screening, complete blood count and others were conducted free of costs.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi complemented the American Oncology Institute for holding free cancer and general health check-up camp in the general interest of public. He said that awareness is the only way to prevent the complications of cancer and starting the treatment at the earliest but unfortunately even today there are a lot of people who run for magical cure which only delays the treatment ultimately leading to complications.
Sethi said that people need to come forward for their routine check-ups not only in the camps organized for the purpose but also in the health institutions across this Union Territory as the Government has ensured enhanced facilities in these institutions including those in the remote and far flung areas. He asserted that such health camps will be organized regularly in future and asked the people to visit these camps for diagnosis, treatment and awareness.
