JAMMU, May 25: Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture Priya Sethi and Senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi today laid foundation of statue of Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath at the park opposite Civil Secretariat, here.
The statue would be constructed in the memory of Bhagat Amarnath a martyr of the Scheduled Caste community who laid down his life for the cause and welfare of the down trodden sections of the society.
Pledging support to cause of the community, Yudhvir described Bhagat Amarnath as a towering leader of the State who gave his life to that oppressed sections of society get their due share and start living a life of dignity and honour.
He said sacrifice of such leaders should be remembered so that coming generations come to know how much struggle has been done to ensure that down trodden sections of society get uplifted.
“I assure full support to the cause and would extend personal support of all kinds for the installation of the Shaheedi Samarak,” he reiterated.
Expressing gratitude for fulfilling the long pending demand of the community, Surinder Bhagat said Bhagat Amarnath was a national leader who sacrificed his life for the community and since long people of the community wanted to install a statue in the memory of the great leader.
