Youth’s blind murder solved, 2 arrested

Two accused arrested by Ramgarh police in connection with blind murder at Garwal.

SAMBA, Oct 25: The police claimed to have solved the blind murder of one Narinder Singh of Bara village in Vijaypur, with the arrest of two accused persons today.
The accused have been were identified as Deepak Singh, son of late Shiv Dev Singh, resident of Ward No. 6 Vijaypur and Harshwar Singh, son of Sardar Singh of village Bari Kamila.
SSP Samba, Israr Ahmed Khan said that dead body of the deceased, Narender Singh, son of late Gian Singh of village Bara was recovered from a canal near Garwal in Ramgarh on September 27, 2012. The throat of the deceased was found slit with some sharp edged weapon. The body had got struck in an iron mesh fitted for filtration of canal water.
After the body was spotted by some locals, they informed Ramgarh police. A medical board conducted postmortem of the body at Ramgarh. The police started investigation under Section 174 CrPC into the case. The investigation revealed that Narinder left his house on September 24 and had not returned. The police managed the call details of the deceased and it was established that last call had been made to one Deepak Singh. He was called to police station and placed under sustained interrogation.  The police also worked on two or three different angles. It also suspected involvement of cousins and uncle of the deceased as they had sold some piece of common land when Narinder was in jail in connection with a criminal case.
Mr Khan said Deepak first tried to dodge the police stating that some notorious youth of Rattian were after Narinder and they might have eliminated him. But the investigation found no motive behind it. Those persons named by Deepak were also at different places on the day of murder. During sustained interrogation, Deepak then broke down and confessed his guilt. He admitted that he had to pay Rs 80,000 to Narinder  Singh in connection with a deal. Now, he was exerting pressure on him. He had also bad eye on his younger sister and was threatening to forcefully kidnap her. Upon this he hatched a conspiracy and called him to his residence. After offering intoxicants, he was gagged by using a steel wire and done to death. A toka was also used in committing crime. Then the body was packed in a  gunny bag, mounted on a bike and both he and Harsh threw the body in canal away from their house during  mid night.
A case under Section 302 RPC was registered against the accused and weapon of offence was also seized. Both the accused were finally arrested and remanded to police custody.
