GURUGRAM, Jan 14: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that youth are the real architects  of Narendra Modi’s “New India”.
With over 70 percent of country’s population below the age of 40 today, he said, the contribution of youth is imperative for realizing the dream of “New India”.
Speaking at a gathering of students drawn from all the eight States of North East, currently on an Inter-State tour organized under the “SEIL” (Student’s Experience in Inter-State Living) programme of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Dr Jitendra Singh lauded ABVP as the country’s oldest, largest and strongest student organization, which had, over the years, emerged as a “Paathshala” or a grooming institution for the youngsters to achieve harmonious development of personality with a purpose to serve the society.  He said the “SEIL” programme, which started half a century ago, has evolved into a strong means of inter-personal and family bonds among people living in distant parts of India.
Under the Modi Government in the last three years, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Northeast has undergone a revolutionary transformation, as a result of which, it is fast emerging as a hub of entrepreneurship for young Start-Ups from all over India. With fast-track progress in all the ancillary infrastructural facilities including laying of double gauge rail track, network of roads and new air connectivity routes, Northeast has unexplored avenues to offer for self-livelihood and self- employment at a time when some other parts of the country are getting exhausted of these avenues, he added,
Dr Jitendra Singh referred to the “Venture Capital Fund” offered by the Ministry of North East /DoNER to any youth who wishes to try his luck through a Start-Up in the Northeast.  This offer, he said, has received tremendous response. Similarly, the promotion of home-tourism has met with tremendous success, which is evident from the fact that in the last two years, tour operators from all parts of India including South India are now conducting tours to the destinations in Northeast. He said, there was unprecedented tourist rush in places like Gangtok and  Shillong this year.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were Prof S P Bansal, Vice Chancellor and Ashish Bhave, an eminent social reformer.
