KATHUA, June 10: A 35 year old chemist was found dead with his throat slit open near his house in at village Mela in Hiranagar tehsil near here late last night.
He has been identified as Amarjit Sharma of Mela. His grieving relatives and neighbours held a strong protest demonstration and blocked National Highway and Railway Track disrupting movement of trains and traffic on Highway.

The protestors were demanding immediate arrest of unidentified culprits.
Sharma was found dead outside his house in Mela village by his family members late last night after they started searching for him when he did not return home, officials said.
Hundreds of people carrying Sharma’s body blocked Jammu Pathankot Highway and the nearby railway track near Hiranagar, the officials said.
The protestors dispersed within four hours on the assurance of police and civil officers that a case was registered ad further investigation is on to bring the culprits to book, they said.
Earlier the angry mob in large numbers moved towards Jammu, Pathankot National Highway at Mela Morh and blocked the Highway more than four hours. Whereas a group of women moved to Railway track and sat on protest dharna and blocked the traffic as well as Railway traffic movement.
Sharma’s body was recovered nearby field in pool of blood as his throat was slit with sharp edged weapon.
The protestors said that Amarjeet Sharma was very active and always opposed the anti social activities including bovine smuggling that resulted in his planned murder. The protesters were demanding the strong action against criminal active in the area.
The Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Rakesh Minhas and senior police officers reached the spot and listened the grievances of public. DC has assured strong legal action against the criminals and announced constitution of Special Investigating Team (SIT) of police as well as civil administration to find out the cause of murder and arrest of accused. He has also announced social help to family as the deceased was only earning hand in the family.
Due to blockage of National Highway, there was huge traffic jam on Highway and passengers suffered a lot. The traffic was restored after the protesters withdraw protest dharna.
