JAMMU, Apr 19: A bike borne youth was killed today when a mini-bus hit him at Cheora falling under the jurisdiction of police station Gangyal.
According to a police spokesperson, the youth identified as Rakesh Kumar (25) son of Ram Lal, a resident of Kathua, received serious injuries when a mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AV-1785 hit his bike from back side.
The mishap occurred this evening when the mini-bus was on its way from Bishnah to Jammu by Cheora. In serious condition, the injured youth was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting postmortem. A case FIR No 71/2015 under Sections 279, 304. A report has been registered at Gangyal police station and efforts are on to nab the accused mini-bus driver, who managed to escape from the spot of crime soon after the accident. However, the police has seized the minibus involved in the accident.
