UDHAMPUR, Aug 5: In a suspected murder case, a youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Damnote Nallah in Panchari, here today.
The deceased was identified as Uttam Singh (23), son of Harnaam Singh, resident of Kambal Danga in Udhampur, who was working in a shop at Katra. His blood stained body was found from Damnote Nallah near Higher Secondary School in Panchari area, last night around 20:45 Hrs.
Locals and family members of the deceased said that he had gone to his granny’s house at Damnot on August 3 evening where he had a scuffle with three to four local youth. Since then his mobile phone was switched off and later his dead body was found in the nallah last evening.
Alleging that the deceased was murdered, they appealed to the district Administration and Police that there should be fair investigation and the culprits should be arrested. They also threatened to block the road if the culprits are not immediately arrested.
According to SHO Pancheri, Rakesh Kumar, Police is ascertaining the exact cause of death and inquest proceeding U/S 174 CrpC has been initiated in this regard. “We have to come to know that the deceased had a scuffle with four local youth, who have been identified and being chased,” he said, adding that some old animosity is believed to be cause of scuffle.
