Youth ends life, 2 die in mishaps

JAMMU, June 9: A youth committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Rajouri area while two youth were killed in separate motor-cycle accidents in Rajouri and Kathua districts.
Reports from Rajouri said that 23-year- old Khursheed Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Rajdhani in Thanna Mandi consumed some poisonous substance and became serious last night. He was removed to district hospital Rajouri at around 10 pm where doctors washed his stomach and later referred him to GMC hospital, Jammu. However, he died near Chingus, just short of Nowshera.
Meanwhile, young Mohd Arif (22), son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Ward No. 13 Rajouri was killed on the spot while pillion rider, Mohd Azeem of Manja Kote was seriously injured after their bike was hit by an Army vehicle at Water Point in Rajouri area today. The injured has been hospitalized. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Three more persons were injured after a motor-cycle skidded on the road in Rajouri area. The injured identified as Mohd Nawaz, Aftab Ahmed and Javed Ahmed have been hospitalized.
Young Pankaj Sharma, son of Om Parkash, resident of Banod in Billawar was killed on the spot after his bike collided with a tractor trolley at Phinter last night. The police said mishap took place at around 10.30 pm as only one light of the tractor was functioning. It confused the bike rider in the darkness, leading to accident. The police shifted the body to hospital and today handed over to the family for last rites. The tractor driver was absconding. A case was registered in this connection.
