RAJOURI, June 4: A youth died in a road accident in Nagrota area near Rajouri while driver was injured after a speeding car over-turned in Tandwal area of Rajouri today.
Reports said the mishap took place when the Tata Magic vehicle, bearing registration number JK-11J/0321 skidded off the road and rolled down into a nallah near Nagrota village on Rajouri-Kandi road. One person was seriously injured in the mishap and was rushed to Rajouri hospital. But he later succumbed to the injuries in hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Abrar Ahmed (26), son of Jamrod Hussain, a resident of Panihad.
The local residents alleged that the accident occurred due to the poor condition of the road, which they said poses a constant threat to commuters and has become a major safety concern.
Expressing grief over the loss of a young life, locals urged the district administration to take immediate notice of the deteriorating road infrastructure.
Meanwhile, a speeding car over-turned on the Jammu-Poonch highway near JK Bank at Tandwal this evening, causing injuries to the car driver. The vehicle bearing registration number JK11F/3265 was on way to Thandikassi from Rajouri. The driver lost control, and the car turned turtle on the busy highway.
Some eyewitnesses said that vehicle was moving at high speed and rash driving could be the reason behind accident. Fortunately, no loss of life or any significant damage to the property was reported. The car driver was later hospitalized by police, which has taken cognizance of the matter.
