JAMMU, July 24: Pradesh Youth Congress today staged protest and sought reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on US President Donald Trump’s remarks with regard to mediation on Kashmir.
A large number of Youth Congress activists under the leadership of PYC president Uday Bhanu Chib assembled outside the Party headquarters Shahidi Chowk during the day and raised slogans against BJP Government for befooling the people of the country. Sitaram Lamaba, IYC general secretary Incharge J&K and Shishpal Keharwala, IYC secretary In-charge J&K also joined the protest.
Lamaba said that Trump’s statement was totally unacceptable in view of the Shimla Agreement. He said under the Shimla Agreement, Kashmir is a bilateral issue and no third party mediation is acceptable.
He raised serious concern over third-party mediation on the Kashmir issue and said that the serious thing was that the US president had named Modi for seeking mediation.
Shishpal Keharwala said, “ This is very unfortunate that the US has tried to meddle in bilateral issues of India and Pakistan. More unfortunate is that even after 24 hours, Modi has not come out in the open, vehemently rejecting the utterances of Trump.”
In his address PYC chief, Uday Chib asserted why PM was not responding to Trump’s such a dangerous statement.
“We are seeing through media that the US President stated that Prime Minister Modi asked for mediation,” he said, adding this fact could be right or wrong but neither the US President nor the Prime Minister has denied this.
Chib said that the situation is very serious PM Modi should clarify to the people of country so that the truth prevails.
Prominent among those who joined the protest include-Ajaz Choudhary, Nimrandeep Singh, Sahil Singh Langeh, Ranjeet Chopra, Vishal Chopra, Ricky Dalotra, Divansh Singh, Varinder Singh, Aakash Bharat, Shabir Kohli, Jagjot Singh, Nadeem Mir, Nakul Sharma and others.
