JAMMU, July 4: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress remembered the former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi by paying floral tributes to his portrait and launched plantation drive here today.
In this connection, an impressive function was organized at Durga Nagar, Jammu under the leadership of Pranav Shagotra, Pradesh Youth Congress president.
The programme ” Hum Mein Hai Rajiv” was organized by Th Hoshiyar Singh Chib, Lok Sabha general secretary. The PYC president was accompanied by Chetan Wanchoo, spokesperson PYC, Ravi Kant- AYC president, Prateek Singh, Dushant Singh, Rahul Seth, Ravinder Choudhary- AYC general secretaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Pranav Shagotra said that the programme “Hum Mein Hai Rajiv” is conceived and conceptualized to propagate the thoughts and innovative initiative of the architect of Modern India Bharat Ratana Rajiv Gandhi amongst the youth, farmers, women, labourers and general masses of the country.
Mr Shagotra described Rajiv Gandhi as a great visionary leader who led the country towards the challenges of 21st century. He said it was the vision of Rajiv Gandhi that India has emerged as the leader in the world in information technology. He said, when Rajiv talked about information and communication technology, the leaders of the main opposition party who are now in power criticized him in side and out side the parliament because they could not understand the challenges of 21st century. It was because of his vision that whole world is looking towards India for addressing their problem of unemployment.
PYC president said that Pradesh Youth Congress is organizing various programmes from May 29, to August 20, 2016 and today’s programme of tree plantation is a part of this campaign.
