SAMBA, Apr 18: A youth was buried alive under the debris of a wall of a dam which collapsed at village Taloor near here today.
He was identified as Din Chand 25, S/o Nago Ram of village Kupri falling under jurisdiction of Samba Police Station.
According to SHO Samba, Ravinder Singh Parihar three youth took shelter under a shade near the Taloor dam constructed on river Basanter to save themselves from heavy rains. The wall of the dam under which they took refuge collapsed. The youth who was standing behind his two colleagues pushed them ahead. They moved ahead and were saved while Din Chand was buried alive under debris.
He said the dead body was still lying under the debris and police has launched the operation to retrieve the body. The police has pressed into service a JCB for removing the debris of the wall to retrieve the body, he added.
