KATHUA, Feb 25: A young housewife made bid on her life by setting herself on fire at her residence at village Keedian Gandyal, under Lakhanpur police jurisdiction today.
A police spokesman said that according to family members, 26-year-old Pooja Devi, wife of Ashwani Kumar, poured kerosene oil on body and set herself on fire at home during afternoon. She was rescued by other members in the family and neighbours and rushed to Kathua hospital. She sustained nearly 80 % burn injuries. The victim was later referred to GMC hospital, Jammu. The police registered a case for investigation. Reason behind this extreme step could not be ascertained immediately and she was unable to give any statement, the police said.
