JAMMU, Aug 14: As the yatra remained suspend from Jammu to holy cave for the second consecutive day today due to security reasons, 391pilgrims paid obeisance of naturally formed ice lingam of Lord Shiva in holy cave of Swami Amarnath on 48 th day of darshan today.
According to an Officer on yatra duty, no pilgrim was allowed to leave from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here towards twin base camps of Baltal in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir and Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on second consecutive day today.
He also said no pilgrim was allowed to leave for Jammu from twin base camps of Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal today in view of security reasons.
He also said date 2,79,926 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag since the two month long annual yatra started on June 28 this year.
He said 133 pilgrims left from shortest Baltal track to holy cave this morning while 63 left by air. Besides, 153 pilgrims left from Nunwan-Pahalgam base camp to holy cave via 32 km long Chandanwari track, he added.
The officer said the yatris camping at Sheshnag and Panjtarni transit camps also left for their onwards sojourn early in the morning. He said it had rained early in the morning on yatra routes but later the weather remained dry during the day and the yatra plied smoothly from both the tracks.
