JAMMU, Apr 17: A protest demonstration was held by Kashmiri Pandits owing allegiance to Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) in front of Press Club here today against the Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani, master mind of 2010 stone pelting violence, Masrat Alam and MLA, Engineer Rashid for their anti India stance.
The protestors demanded stern action against the separatists who were the part of rally in which anti India slogans were raised and Paksitani flags were waived.
The demonstration was led by YAIKS president, R K Bhat. He said the Government has failed to take action against the pro- Pak elements and ISI agents in the State. They are trying again and again to sabotage the return move of Pandits to Valley which will not be tolerated now by the community in general and KP youth in particular.
He said whenever some concrete measures are being taken the negative forces try to scuttle it on the name of composite culture whose base has been eroded by none else than the separatists and anti national elements in the Valley for years together.
Bhat said it is quite disappointing to see that situation has again deteriorated in the Valley and reminds one of the 1989-90 period when the mass exodus of minority Hindus took place from there under a conspiracy hatched by the anti national elements in connivance with Pakistan. It is sole responsibility of the Government to safeguard the interests of KPs especially the displaced youth who volunteered to serve in Valley for the national interests. If situation continues the same the youth will be forced to migrate to Jammu as they can’t work in such a surcharged atmosphere.
Bhat while making a dig at the separatists and some main stream parties said there is no logic in opposing the separate township for Pandtis as such townships exist in various parts of the State. Have not separatists dealt a strong jolt to pluralism in Kashmir when they forced the minority Hindus to flee from there, he added.
He said it is unfortunate that the GoI and State Government is mute spectator to the issue and the Chief Minister was also pursing pro separatist policies.
Sunil Koul, Manoj Handoo, Sanjay Ganjoo,Ajay Raina, Ajay Koul, Dileep Kaul, Ashwani Raina and D N Bhat were present in the protest. Earlier, the YAIKS took out a procession from Muthi to Press Club.
